Our Story

About SnapID

SnapID started with a simple question: “What is that thing?”

Whether it's a bug on your kitchen counter, a weird spot on your tomato plant, or something crawling across the patio — that moment of curiosity (or panic) is universal. We built SnapID because finding a real answer used to mean scrolling through forums, comparing blurry Google Images, or waiting days for a response on a gardening subreddit.

Now you can just snap a photo and know in seconds. What it is, whether it's dangerous, and exactly what to do about it.

Meet the Founder

Purdue University · Chemistry Major

SnapID was built by a Purdue University student who happens to be a lifelong gardener and nature nerd. Between organic chemistry lectures, you'll find him in the garden — identifying insects on his tomato plants, diagnosing leaf spots on his houseplants, or just exploring whatever catches his eye outside.

SnapID came from that same curiosity. The idea was simple: what if you could point your phone at anything in nature and instantly understand what you're looking at? No searching, no guessing, no waiting. Just answers — the kind a knowledgeable friend would give you if they happened to be standing right next to you.

Our Mission

Make expert-level nature knowledge accessible to everyone. You shouldn't need a degree in entomology to know if a spider in your basement is harmless, or a degree in botany to save a dying houseplant. SnapID puts that expertise in your pocket.

What We Care About

🔍

Accuracy over speed

We'd rather give you a thorough, useful answer than a fast, wrong one. Every identification includes risk assessment, action steps, and product recommendations.

🔒

Your privacy matters

We don't sell your data. We don't track you with cookies. Your photos and identifications belong to you, and you can delete everything at any time.

🌍

Built for the planet

We donate 1% of all revenue to environmental causes. We believe technology should help people coexist with nature, not fear it.

Always improving

SnapID is still young and growing. We ship improvements every week and listen to what our users need. Your feedback directly shapes the product.
